Fleas can quickly infest your pets, home, and garden. Sprays and flea treatments can kill the live fleas and some even kill the eggs but if even one flea survives, the life cycle begins again! Flea sprays must be used very carefully because some dog flea sprays are deadly to cats. Fleas like to feed on animals with fur like cats, dogs, and rabbits. The easiest way to break the flea life cycle without a lot of heavy chemicals is to get flea pills for your pets and use Food grade DE (Diamotaceous Earth) in your home and yard. Then give your home and yard a good cleaning, making sure to get the dark corners in the house and any dark places in your yard or garage. Fleas like dark warm places to hide. If you have mice infestations you will need to get rid of the mice as well as mice are well know as carriers of fleas. Flea prevention is a whole lot easier than trying to get rid of flea infestations. Scroll down to see ten natural home remedies for getting rid of fleas.
How to Get Rid of Fleas, Mites and Ticks for Good
Flea Treatments
In order to get rid of fleas on your pets-for good you will need to employ the following
methods:
Get a monthly flea treatment from your pet's vet or use an over the counter flea treatment but I have found that I can get one flea treatment from the vet every six months and use over the counter treatments once a month on the months the vet treatment doesn't cover and ever since I figured this out none of my pets have had fleas, ticks, or mites.
Keep in mind that flea treatments vary according to your pets age and the kind of pet you have. When treating your pets for fleas and other parasites you need to keep them separated until the treatment dries. Do all your pets on the same day and be sure to read and follow the instructions carefully on any flea, mite, or tick treatments. I have used the following over the counter treatments with complete success.

Why you should Get RID of Your carpet if you have pets
TIf you have pets it is a good idea to get rid of your wall to wall carpeting. Carpeting never gets truly clean as dust mites, fleas, ticks, spiders, bacteria, fungus, mold, and dirt you cannot see can get embedded in the carpet and the padding underneath it. Pets will often urinate on carpet in places you might not notice. No matter how well you shampoo your carpet it will still be there. If you cannot get rid of your carpet you can sprinkle Foodgrade DE Diatomaceous Earth on your carpet once a week and leave it on there for two days before vacuuming it up. Then shampoo the carpet. This will break the life cycle of the fleas if you repeat it once a week for eight weeks. It is a good idea to put pets outdoors while sprinkling the DE to lessen the chances of respiratory issues from DE flying around in the air, as DE is a fine powder. Fair warning, You will have to do lots of dusting after you have vacuum it up. It is safe for pets to be around and can even be rubbed on dogs or cats fur. It is best to wear a facemask and gloves when applying it.
Don't forget to treat your pets for Ear mites monthly as well
