Lemons Are A Great, Old Fashioned Cleaner With A Refreshing twist
Lemons are great for cleaning. Not only do they make anything you clean smell refreshing lemons have a bleaching element which makes them awesome at removing stains. I have even heard that lemon cleaners and orange cleaners repel insects like cockroaches, ants, etc.
Surface cleaning: Squeeze lemon juice into water, put in a spray bottle and it works great for cleaning counter tops and appliances, bathroom cleaning and almost any surface. I don't use it on wood because of it's tendency to whiten things but squirting a bit of lemon in my laundry tends to brighten the colors and whiten the whites more than usual.
Cleans cutting boards: Rub lemon juice on cutting boards overnight and wash off in the morning.
Rust stains: Rub lemon half on rust stain, leave overnight, and wash out in the morning.
Remove stains on material: Mix a small amount of lemon juice with salt, rub into or pat onto stain and leave it in the sun until it dries, brush the salt off and wash as usual. (5 vintage cleaning hacks to steal from grandma. 2017).
Helpful Tip: NEVER put stained clothing in the dryer. Always try to remove a stain before you launder your clothing. The heat from a dryer will set the stain.
