Cleaning the toilet has got to be the most dreaded chore of all housekeeping chores and is the one chore that holds more bacteria and germs than anything else in your home and because of this, the toilet needs to be cleaned more often than the rest of your home. Moist conditions in your bathroom are a playground for bacteria, germs, and mold spore's giving them a prime area to grow and thrive in. The first step to cleaning your toilet is to make sure nobody in the house needs to use the bathroom before you get started, then gather up your supplies.
To clean the toilet you will need:
Rubber or latex gloves to protect your hands from germs, bacteria, and cleaners.
An apron to protect your clothing from accidental splashing.
Goggles (optional) just in case of accidental splashing.
Toilet brush for scrubbing inside the upper lip of the toilet bowl and around bolts at bottom of the toilet.
Toilet cleaner (preferably a natural, antibacterial, and non toxic cleaner).
Two wash cloths to wash the outside of the toilet.
An old toothbrush to get in cracks and crevices on the outside of the toilet.
A lint free towel for polishing the outside of the toilet.

Start by cleaning the inside of the toilet bowl. Apply toilet cleaner and follow the instructions on the packaging exactly.
Scrub the toilet bowl with the toilet brush.
Flush and then repeat the process.
Wash the top of the toilet bowl and the toilet seat with a different wash cloth than you use on the base of the toilet bowl and toilet closest to the floor.
Polish dry the outside of the toilet from top to bottom until it shines with a lint free cloth.
Scrub the toilet bowl with the toilet brush.

You can drop four or five denture tabs into your toilet, wait five minutes and you have a clean toilet with no scrubbing. If stains are bad you may need to scrub a little bit.

Old Fashioned Toilet Cleaning Tip with Bleach-Not a Natural Cleaning Solution But it works
Many old timers used bleach to clean their toilets when they are badly stained. Cleaning your toilet with bleach is not the best way to do it but bleach will kill any and all germs in and on your toilet. Bleach will remove most toilet stains inside the tank and the bowl, however, bleach is very strong and has a very strong smell. You will need a face mask to do it and it is not advisable to use this method.
Instructions:
1. Wear rubber gloves, apron & face-mask:
2. Flush toilet
3. Pour 4 cups of bleach in the toilet bowl and leave the room closing the door behind you. Let bleach soak for one hour or overnight if possible.
4. After soaking in bleach for at least one hour use toilet brush to scrub all parts of the toilet (inside of the toilet bowl).
5. Flush toilet
6. Use non-abrasive cleaner and scrub toilet again
7. Flush toilet
8. Clean all surfaces in front, sides, and behind the outside of the toilet bowl.
9. Use an old toothbrush to clean around bolts or plastic casing covering bolts on both sides of the toilet.
10. Rinse well
11. Polish with vinegar in spray bottle (1/4 cup to 1 gallon of water) and polish with dry, lint-free cloth.
