From cigarette smoking and nail biting, hair pulling, scratching to drugs & alcohol, everyone has some kind of bad habit that they need to get rid of. The problem is we do not always know where to start!
In the same sense, you should reward good behavior. Think of the money that you will save from not smoking, save it up and get yourself something nice that you really need or want.
Pray to the Lord to take the desire for the undesired habit away from you, ask in Jesus name.
Identify the reason. Most treatment programs suggest looking deep into your thoughts and memories to identify the reason to use. Usually there is something that triggers the desire to use. Identifying the reason can help addicted people deal with prior issues which they may be self-medicating themselves for.
When did the addiction start? Identify the date or age that you started and what type of physical or emotional feelings were present at that time.
