How to Caulk Your Bathroom
How to Caulk Your BathroomYou can caulk your bathroom yourself and save money. First you should determine whether or not your caulk needs to be replaced. If it is not cracked or falling out but it's just yellowed or mildewed you can clean it with bleach or use a bleach pen to whiten it. If this does not work or it is already too bad off you should change the caulk.
How to change the caulk: It's really pretty simple to do but a bit time consuming, so you will want to plan ahead and schedule a day when you don't have much to do. Be sure to get everything you need to get the job done before you start. What you will need:
After removing the old caulk and cleaning the tiles and area you plan to caulk you should wait until it is completely dry before applying caulk After the area you want to caulk is completely clean and dry you are ready to apply the caulk. You can use a caulking gun for big jobs or tubes of caulk for small jobs. While you are caulking Simply apply the caulk in the space and use your gloved finger by gently, running it down the line of caulk you just applied. Use a lint-free cloth dampened with warm water to wipe any excess as you go. After you apply the new caulk After your caulk is completely dry you can apply a sealant to protect it. Note: You should wait until caulk is completely dry before using the shower, tub, toilet, or sink where you have caulked. Fill gaps with caulking strips If you are not sure that you can caulk your bathroom yourself or you only have some gaps to fill, you can make the job easier by using caulking strips as a temporary fix. |
