Laminate Floors: Best Cleaning Tips
The easiest and best ways to clean laminated floors. Floors should be swept daily (more if needed) and mopped at least once or twice a week. Dirt, sand and debris can quickly damage laminate floors causing scratches, scarring, and dulls the shine. When you mop laminate flooring do not use harsh chemicals, scrub brushes, or anything that could damage the surface. You can clean your laminate floors with a damp mop (not soaking wet), then dry with a microfiber cloth or a dry mop. Make sure the floor is dry everywhere including by baseboards, along seams, behind and under furniture (do not slide furniture and make sure you have leg protector covers on the bottom of furniture legs to reduce the chances of scarring the laminate floor). Water and moisture is laminate floorings worst enemy. If even small amounts of water get in under the laminate flooring it can cause it to bubble and start peeling up which is why you use a damp mop and not a wet mop. If you live in an area where it rains alot or have alot of moisture in the air it is a good idea to use a dehumidifier to protect your floors and wood furniture.
Many folks ask if you can use Swiffer Wet Jet on laminate floors and from my experience yes, yes, you can but any microfiber floor mop will do, just use one pad for damp mopping and use a new dry pad to dry the floor. It is not a good idea to vacumm laminate flooring because the brush roll on the vacumm can scratch the surface and dull the shine over time. Maintaining your laminate floor regularly is not hard work, you just have to be careful and it will look great and last for years to come.
